A good story can make a lifelong impression. This book belonged to my great-grandmother. As a child my beloved grandma read me stories from this until my teens. The Old Woman and Her Pig and Little Orphant Annie were my favorites. Grandma would slowly read “and—the—goblins—will—getcha, ef—you—don’t —watch—out!” and quickly grab me to my delight. That is the power. I knew what was coming after years of hearing the words, yet they were so well written that anticipation grew every time.
Don’t give up if writing is a dream. You never know what an impact you might have on someone. Grandma was a major influence in my decision to write, always cultivating my love of words. As I hold this book and realize my very hands of my great-grandmother also held this book, telling the same stories I am amazed. Words shared across generations, by people unknown to each other. That inspires me, I hope it does you.
