Western Kentucky

The kids and I drove down to Western KY to visit family last Friday. What a difference in landscape within a few short hours! I love it here, long curvy roads crossing gentle slopes everywhere. Thick woods suddenly break into bright green fields, some of which seem to glow with purple clover. There are trees ironically called Redbuds, since they are producing the most brilliant purple flowers I have ever seen.

So far we have seen horses, turkey vultures, squirrels, baby lambs and calves, and even our first red fox. This area boasts a large variety of birds, singing all day. Hopefully when we leave, this will be the time our new house really feels like we are coming home…
