Peace for hard times

Life is challenging. No matter how far ahead we try to get, the reality is that life “happens”. The good days are incredible and rewarding, the bad days can feel crushing to our spirit. I know many people, including ourselves are facing rough financial times. Some families are facing cancer, parents with Alzheimer’s, and other health problems. Strained relationships with family members hurt. Sometimes the bad days seem to roll into tough months.

God has not left us unequipped to face these spots. Today in my devotions I was comforted to read Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes I will help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

I went on to read Isaiah 30:21 “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying “This is the way, walk in it.”

It is not easy to slow down and hear the small, still voice we know is there- but, it is always worth it. We are not alone. When you wait for it, listen and obey it, the bad days seem brighter. Beauty becomes clearer again, we appreciate the moments at hand.

When I worry about tomorrow I panic. Literally I can feel sick, sleepless nights, joyless days.  When I focus on TODAY, RIGHT NOW, I am able to live in awe of the blessings I am surrounded with. Today, my family is healthy-we have food to eat- a roof to cover our heads. Our needs are provided for today, the only day we are commanded to think on, the only one promised to us. Why waste it worrying about what the future holds? Does worrying help? Of course not, it robs us.

Live for today, I will join you and Jesus will lead the way for us both.
