Chai comfort

It was dark and rainy this morning, a perfect setting for a cup of chai. This particular blend is Tahitian Chai and it brings back memories of my first sip. Some treasured girlfriends and I met for lunch at my favorite teahouse, Sleighbells (an all Christmas store, year round…as if THAT isn’t exciting enough!)  I was thrilled to find you can order a box of individual packets on Amazon of all places.

As I mixed it up, the transportive power of smell brought a smile to my face.  One cup managed to bring my heart to a place of laughter and love. It has become my comfort smell over some dark days. This cup?  Only half  was sipped, the rest left in the cup.

Content to sit and sniff. And smile. The power of smell.

What scent takes you to another place?

  1. I’m with you on the chai! Several of my girlfriends and I went to a spa in Utah a few years ago, where I was introduced to Yogi Redbush Chai. Came back and found out that they carried it at Wild Oats in Nora. Except the last time I went they no longer carry it. 😦

They do have it on Amazon, but I’m waiting to see if WO (now Whole Foods) will get it again for fall.

  2. Favorite smells? Pine trees, lavender soap, cinnamon bread fresh from the oven….they really are abel to bring on nostalgia of favorite times for me.
