Piano, starting or continuing?

Started back up with piano after most of the summer without playing. It is tough stuff! I am, however, determined to master it. My teacher this week was MORE than patient as I stared blankly at notes I’d forgotten and plunked out the ones I remembered. In some ways it felt mentally like I am starting over. Surprisingly, physically my fingers remembered the placement and melody of more than I expected. This week we are trying something new. She recommended I say each note aloud as a run through mentally before I play, and during so I can start filling in the gaps. Hopefully next week, it will more like music to her ears 🙂

About christasterken

Committed to a life of purpose. Learning to live abundantly. Embracing creativity. Questioning. Delighting in the comforts of home and family. Determining not to settle only for how things are, but how they could be. Writing is part of who I am, so I trust In God who gave the gift to show me how I can serve Him through it. That is my life…one word at a time. Psalm 89:11a“Teach me your way , O Lord, and I will walk in your truth”

  1. Oh, Christa… you’ve found it’s so much easier to stay with a routine than to get back into it once it’s been broken!
Stay with it; it will come back faster than you think. I’ll expect to hear Chopin by next summer! 🙂
