Some people process things quickly and precisely within their own minds. Others need to really hash out their thoughts, studying the world around them. I fall into the latter group. This is the beauty of writing. I write to find out truth. The mind is useful for analyzing ideas. Conversation ideal for sharing details and getting input. But writing! That is where my brain surprises me. It is not unusual to be taken aback by something penned by my very own hand! I sit and stare, absorbing the output. I hurriedly continue to find out what else my mind has observed and processed seemingly without my assistance.
It is a beautiful thing, because my writing possesses a wisdom separate from any other type of external communication. I completely enjoy every second of talking things over with people. That is the only way I can process through many big ideas. And the little ones too. Writing, however, changes me deeply and privately. Convicts me. Brings me to tears or makes me laugh at my own jokes. The wisdom there is unique. I hear God speak to me intimately.
How do you process truth in your life?
Proverbs 4:7 , “Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do!
And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.” NLT
