Looks Can Be Deceiving

Standard

At first glance, these pictures might seem fairly mild. Until you take your first step. Underneath the top few inches of snow is a  thick layer of ice.  It has taken several days to chip off the ice from one car’s windshield.  Look closely at the night picture, everything shiny is ice. Our entire neighborhood was similar to driving on sheets of it.   Thankfull, it snowed several more inches yesterday, allowing us to drive on it more easily.  Two days ago a neighbor asked the girls to come help her get her car out of her own driveway! Yesterday Art and a friend helped a cop car AND our mail truck- both stuck on our street. There must be countless similar stories across our town, and our nation.

Driving down the freeway was nerve-wracking, tons of cars slipped into the ditches. Those road and utility crews are working so hard to keep us safe. Our church even closed today, ALL of the churches in our city did. In the midst of it all a little bird hopped onto the plant outside our window. He seemed to be happy enough, plump and energetic. It was a fun surprise. Crazy, crazy winter.

  1. Hey Christa! Welcome to Indiana at its finest! LOL

We were outside until about 9:30 last night working on the driveway. The melting helped loosen huge chunks of ice that we were able to chip off and toss into the yard. I was stuck at the end of our driveway until a kind stranger helped Chris push the car into the drive.

Hope you and the family are staying well! I’m up waiting to see if HHCS has a delay this morning.

    Take care!
